Create a door hanger you can change throughout the seasons with this Interchangeable Round Door Hanger System!
This file includes two sign sizes: 10.5" and 18", along with the Home Sweet Home starter insert, so you’ll have your first interchangeable design ready to make with your new base.
10.5" Interchangeable Round Includes:
• Double-layer sign for 1/8" wood
• Reversible layered sign for 1/8" wood
• Single-layer 1/4" backer with 1/8" double-layer trim/topper pieces
• Magnet template
18" Interchangeable Round Includes:
• 18" interchangeable round with toppers
• Magnet template
The Home Sweet Home starter insert is included with this file so you have an insert ready to use with your new door hanger system.
For the 18" version, I recommend using a 1/4" round backer with 1/8" material for all toppers and interchangeable inserts.
All additional interchangeable insert designs are sold separately.
Material Recommendations:
The interchangeable inserts attach to the sign using magnets and metal strike plates or thin metal washers.
I recommend using 1/8" material for BOTH the top layer of the sign base and the interchangeable inserts.
The sign base itself can be constructed using either:
• Two layers of 1/8" material, creating an approximately 1/4" finished sign base
• A 1/4" backer with a 1/8" top layer
IMPORTANT: Whatever thickness of material you use for the top layer of the sign — the layer containing the insert openings — you MUST use that same thickness for your interchangeable inserts. This allows the inserts to sit properly within the sign.
I recommend sticking with 1/8" material for both the top sign layer and the inserts because some insert designs may contain multiple layers. Using thicker material for the inserts can add additional weight and may affect the effectiveness of the magnetic hold.
Magnet Sizing
The depth of your magnet PLUS the thickness of your metal strike plate or washer should equal the thickness of the wood used for the top sign layer and interchangeable insert.
For example, when using 3mm wood, you can use:
• 0.8" x 0.08" (20mm x 2mm) magnet
• 1mm (0.04") thick metal strike plate or washer
Together, the 2mm magnet + 1mm metal piece = 3mm, matching the thickness of the wood.
If you use a different thickness of material, you will need to adjust the depth of your magnet and/or metal strike plate or washer accordingly.
Create your base once, then simply change out the inserts for seasons, holidays, and everyday décor throughout the year!

*Resize the file dimensions and modify for your final use to produce a finished product.
You are NOT permitted to use this file as follows:
*Non compete clause - If you are selling finished items, you are NOT authorized to sell any of my designs at any markets where I am a vendor selling finished items at due to business conflict.
*No mass production of finished product or wood kits for the large manufacturing commercial industry.
*Modify or combine file designs in any way and create a new project file, or rearrange/remove parts of the design to claim them as your own.
*Re-Sell the digital file, or any parts of the file, nor share with friends, or give the file away to others through emails, storage devices or file sharing programs. This would encompass social media platforms (ie Facebook, IG, Pinterest, Twitter, etc), file groups, online forums, any other sharing methods, and friends or family.
